The best time for a first orthodontic check is age seven.

An orthodontic assessment by age 7 allows us to detect and address potential issues before they become more complex. Specialist orthodontists not only straighten teeth but are also trained to look at the developing jaws and dentition.

Smiling child

As your child grows, so does their smile.

Between the ages of six and eight, children experience significant dental development as baby teeth are replaced by adult teeth and the jaws continue to grow. An orthodontic assessment during this stage allows us to monitor development and identify any issues before they become more complex. Early intervention can often reduce the need for more extensive treatment in the future, helping your child enjoy a healthy, confident smile as they grow.

Thousands of children have found their smile with us.

Dr Moira Wong

Parents often ask…

Will my child’s teeth straighten on its own?

Rarely. Crowding and bite problems tend to become more pronounced as adult teeth arrive, not less.

Why do problems
start so young?

The causes vary: thumb-sucking, mouth breathing, losing baby teeth late, or simply family inheritance.

Should I wait for my dentist to refer us?

There is no need. You can come to us directly. As a specialist orthodontist, I am trained to notice subtle changes in growth that a routine check-up is not designed to find.

What happens at the first appointment?

I examine your child’s teeth and jaw carefully, using advanced diagnostic techniques. You leave with a clear explanation of what I have found and what, if anything, I would recommend.

What does it cost?

The initial consultation is £275. If treatment is advisable, you will receive a full diagnosis and a costed plan. Whether to go ahead is entirely your decision.

How long will
treatment take?

That depends on your child. For some it is one or two appointments over three months. For others it is up to 18 months.

Can I spread
the cost?

Yes. Payment is made in stages as treatment progresses.

Are you easy
to find?

Very. We are less than five minutes’ walk from High Street Kensington station. If you are driving, Hornton Street car park is 200 metres away.

Your child’s first orthodontic assessment.

I am passionate about working with children and believe that building trust is an essential part of their orthodontic journey. By taking the time to get to know each child, I help them feel comfortable and confident throughout their treatment.

At Moira Wong Orthodontics, treatment is about more than straightening teeth. It is about helping your child achieve lasting oral health and encouraging habits that will benefit them throughout their life.

Your initial consultation is designed to give you clarity and confidence. During this visit, I will explain:

  1. Whether treatment is necessary.
  2. The simplest and most effective approach to achieving the best result.
  3. The anticipated treatment timeline.
  4. A transparent breakdown of costs.

By the end of your appointment, you will have a personalised treatment recommendation and a clear roadmap for your child’s orthodontic care.
